Riverbed, a loyal customer, held their interactive customer event named “EmpoweredX” in London during October 2023. The goal of the event was to spark excellent digital experiences. The event included live keynote sessions, customer panels, interactive breakout sessions, technical sessions, and much more. This event is part of a series of global events held in five major locations, all of which have a similar theme and format.
The client’s goal was to create an unmistakably ‘Riverbed’ atmosphere from the moment their customers entered the meeting space. To achieve this, we selected a venue that exuded sophistication and style, which are in abundance in central London, while also fulfilling their requirements for attendee numbers, agenda, and audio-visual (AV) needs. It was crucial to choose a central location since attendees were traveling from all over the country. A relaxed start time allowed as many delegates as possible to attend, resulting in a high attendance rate.
The Nobu Hotel London Portman Square was the perfect place for this event as the numbers meant we had the majority of their event space, enabling our client to feel a certain sense of exclusivity, combined with the 5 star excellence that Nobu is known for. The foyer and registration area are on a mezzanine overlooking the hotel lobby which is a bright and modern space, and enables easy access into the main room. There are also some quiet nooks if delegates needed to take a call or do some emails. The venue provided exceptional food and service, and all feedback was positive throughout the day.
We wanted to keep the guests at the Nobu hotel for the evening entertainment. We requested the team to do a sake tasting for our group, which they readily agreed to. They put together a great tasting session for all delegates, which was followed by live sushi stations, Nobu katsu curry live station, and some bowl food options that were passed around the room. To finish off the day, we invited Alex Crow, a corporate event host, mindreader & comedian, to mesmerize the group with his 45-minute stage show.
During the initial stages of planning this event, one of the main challenges was finding a suitable location. The search began in the English countryside, with the intention of including an overnight stay and some outdoor activities. However, after careful consideration and considering the current state of the economy, it was ultimately decided that London would be a better fit for the event.
As with many events such as these, the agenda was ever-changing and so whilst that meant it was a moving feat for the AV team, the space allowed a degree of flexibility about how it was used. The final schedule did not end up including breakout sessions, however we were able to use one of the rooms for a last-minute VIP lunch with the new CEO.
